The King’s Road Project by Spaces by Design

This stunning kitchen renovation project was designed and delivered by our retail partner, Spaces by Design.

What was the client’s brief for this project?

Located very close to Stamford town centre, the client’s property is a large, three-storey, four-bedroom bedroom town house.

They approached Spaces by Design with a brief to help them create a modern loft living style kitchen that was easy to use, easy to clean, and gave them the flexibility to use as a couple or to entertain up to 16 guests for dining.

Our client’s style leans towards maximalism, and is colourful and bold, so their new space also needed to reflect this.

How did you deliver the brief?

Our approach from the outset was to look at the entire space, not just the kitchen. The space needed to work as a multifunctional kitchen, dining, snug and utility – so we began by creating multiple 2D arrangements to explore which ones maximised functionality without impeding the flow and movement around the room, ensuring there was enough space to entertain a large party and also create a better connection to the outside.

We then designed the entire space in VR, which allows for a very immersive experience. As the space was very different from what the client currently had, seeing the proposed new kitchen in VR allowed them to walk around and explore the design in a way renders can’t compete.

The resulting kitchen feels rich in both colour and material, with the dark wood tones of Daval Furniture’s Lugano cabinetry in Boston Oak creating a unifying contrast for the calming tones of Mayfair in Sage. Copper details also add a touch of extravagance and are complemented by a matt finish worktop with deep copper veins running throughout.

Involving our customers with the 2D, 3D and 4D parts of the design process and listening and adapting the ideas as we progressed has delivered a space that was beyond what they had hoped for.
