When the owners of the Chimney Cottage Project extended their home with a striking new oak-framed extension, they wanted a kitchen that felt as though it had always belonged there.

The brief was simple: create a timeless Shaker kitchen that celebrated the character of the original cottage while embracing the light and space offered by the new extension. The result is a calm, beautifully balanced interior where handcrafted cabinetry sits effortlessly alongside exposed oak beams, reclaimed brickwork and generous glazing.

Finished in Artichoke from our Linton collection, every cabinet has been made to measure to complement both the proportions of the room and the way the family lives.

The new extension creates an impressive sense of volume, with soaring vaulted ceilings and substantial oak beams drawing the eye upwards.

Rather than competing with these architectural features, the cabinetry has been carefully composed to frame them. Tall larder units anchor the cooking zone, while a generous central island establishes a natural focal point beneath the open roof structure.

The muted Artichoke finish introduces warmth and softness, allowing the natural timber and exposed brickwork to remain at the heart of the design.

Beyond its traditional appearance, the kitchen has been designed with everyday living firmly in mind. Generous deep drawers keep cookware and everyday essentials neatly organised, with integrated wine storage, open display shelving and carefully positioned preparation areas ensuring every element of the kitchen works intuitively.

At the centre of the room, the large kitchen island creates a sociable gathering place for cooking, entertaining and family life, while the Quooker tap adds modern convenience without interrupting the kitchen’s timeless aesthetic. Underfoot, beautiful Quorn Stone flooring completes the space, providing a durable foundation that complements the earthy tones of the cabinetry, exposed brickwork and structural oak.
