Daval x Holroyd Homes: The Fold Farm project

We recently announced that we are collaborating with Huddersfield-based developers, Holroyd Homes, to design 19 bespoke, made-to-measure kitchens for the stunning Fold Farm development in Netherton.

As a family-run business ourselves, collaborating with another family-run, independent housebuilder to design and supply the kitchens for this beautiful development in our local area is something we’re really proud of.

We caught up with the Holroyd Homes to find out more about the new development.

Let’s dive straight in. Tell us about the Fold Farm development. What can we expect to see?
The development consists of 19 beautiful new homes, set amongst the most amazing rural scenery in Netherton, Huddersfield. 17 are detached family homes and there’s also the reconstruction of an existing barn into a pair of characterful homes. There’s a mixture of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes set in really generous plots (over 50% larger than the UK national average!).

We’re already seeing something truly special emerge as the build progresses; natural materials blend perfectly with the beautiful surroundings and striking contemporary elements are featured throughout each home. All properties have been meticulously designed to ensure they meet the demands of modern living. Exquisite state-of-the-art features are peppered throughout each home, immediately letting you know that these aren’t just another ordinary new build.

The first 8 properties are set to be released on the 29th of September 2021.

What attracted you to the site in Netherton Fold as a great place to build?
Fold Farm was a former dairy farm and we immediately fell in love with the setting of the development as soon as we saw it; it’s completely unique and like no other development we’d ever seen. It’s nestled in the stunning Magdale Valley and borders the Netherton Fold Conservation Area with the development taking advantage of these truly spectacular views.

It’s the best of both worlds, as despite being in a stunning rural location and feeling like you could be in the middle of nowhere, it’s within easy reach of local amenities, being conveniently placed for both Honley and Netherton villages, less than 15 minutes to Huddersfield and within easy commutes to Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield. The location is unbelievable, and even after all this time we still find the views breathtaking!

Tell us a little bit about the history of Holroyd Homes.
Just like Daval, we’re a family run business and have over 20 years’ experience in constructing and renovating residential properties. We take real pride in the fact that we do things a little differently and we’re not your ordinary house builders. Our recently finished development at Broad Lane Farm in Upperthong is a testament to this and is a unique blend of old with the new; 10 brand new homes alongside three beautifully re-built Grade II listed cottages. The whole development is wonderful and our dedicated team of highly skilled craftsmen have helped to make it happen. We can’t wait to see what the end result at Fold Farm will be.

Daval’s design ethos centres around ‘individual possibilities’. How would you describe Holroyd’s approach to designing homes?
We start by looking at the site and the setting and then work to develop a house that best reflects the area and suitably blends in whilst also maximising the opportunities presented by the setting. In this case, that opportunity is very much the views and the surroundings. We’ve therefore worked very hard to make sure every home at Fold Farm makes the best use of its individual setting. For instance, No. 3 Fold Farm Lane is sat at the top of the valley, looking straight back toward Meltham. We’ve therefore included huge sliding doors to the kitchen and lounge and a Juliette balcony to the master bedroom. That same approach has been carried through on each house to ensure they all have something special, a ‘wow’ factor that brings those wonderful views into the house.

We share the same passion for quality and bespoke products, and it’s evident that Daval cares as much about their product and brand as we care about ours. It’s exciting to be working alongside another local, family-run business that, like us, has true craftsmanship at its core. A Daval bespoke fitted kitchen reflects quality and integrity. We were looking for a real ‘wow’ kitchen in the open-plan kitchen-dining space – and we can’t wait to see them in place.
